I’ve shared my thoughts on Copify in the past. It’s not the best thing for the writing profession, but it’s good to know that there’s always work available. Just don’t rely on it for full-time income. Maybe I’m part of the problem, and I’m driving down the price of copywriting, but I’m satisfied with my hourly rate from this platform so I don’t see an issue with it. I’d much rather get my hourly rate through a site like Copify than constantly field requests for free and spec work. 🤷🏻♀️
If you’re thinking about joining Copify, you can read my thoughts on the platform here. I mentioned at the end of my last review that I had recently achieved professional status and I thought I should share an update on how that is going.
What is Copify Professional Status?
After you have completed 25 orders on the site, you are eligible to apply for Copify Professional Status. This gives you access to all orders on the site, including those reserved for “professionals”. These jobs offer slightly higher rates of pay. Copify Professional Status is only available for residents of the UK, US, Canada and Australia. You also need to have a history of good writing on the platform and a writing portfolio. You can read more about what they are looking for here.
Are there many Professional orders?
Standard orders far outweigh professional orders. At the time of writing, there were no professional orders available on the site. In my experience, the professional orders are those that require a bit more research. They might be on a highly specialist topic, or they might be asking for a greater depth of analysis.
Should I apply for Copify Professional Status?
As far as I know, the Copify team are pretty selective about who they let in, and professional status is no different. I’ve seen blog posts by professional writers who are offended when their profiles are rejected. In most cases, this might have more to do with being at capacity rather than the quality of your work.
Since there aren’t that many Copify professional status jobs out there, you aren’t missing out on much if you stay at the standard level. The earnings don’t drastically increase that much, but it is nice to see some slightly higher paid work.
What can increase your earnings on Copify is direct orders. These pay significantly more than regular orders found on the jobs board. For example, I was paid £20 for a 500-word article through direct order, but this would pay £7.50 if I secured it through the available orders board.
You’ll need to build up a relationship with a client in order for them to choose you directly, but some clients prefer this. It gives you an opportunity to get to know their business, which makes for far better copy.
Should I hire a Copify professional writer?
If you are a client looking for a high-quality copywriter, my advice would be the same as for writers. Rather than paying for professional status, why not test the waters and find a writer that you like? You can then message them and ask for them to work for you directly. A writer getting paid £20 for 500 words is going to produce much higher quality work than one getting paid £7.50. If you’d like to worth directly with me, you can use my direct order link here.
